LaCie Rugged Secure 2TB USB-C USB3.1 STFR2000403

LaCie Rugged Secure 2TB USB-C USB3.1 STFR2000403 | A 2TB drive for keeping files together

What sets this LaCie apart in the external HDD category is its combination of a 2TB capacity with USB-C and USB 3.1 named in the model details. It’s for photographers and other file-heavy users who want an external drive as a place to keep image folders, video projects or finished work. The capacity gives you room to bring files together rather than leaving them scattered across several folders and devices. That’s useful when you’re sorting a shoot, setting aside completed projects or making a separate copy of important work. The honest point: 2TB doesn’t translate into a fixed number of photos, since file sizes vary. The LaCie Rugged Secure is a straightforward option to consider if that capacity and its stated USB connection match the way you organise and access your files.

Where it fits in a photo workflow

An external hard drive can give your files a distinct home outside your computer’s internal storage. For example, you might group work by project, then keep completed folders together on the drive. A consistent folder structure makes it easier to find a job later; the drive itself won’t organise your files for you. If you’re using it as part of a backup routine, keep another copy of important work separately. One drive is a storage destination, not a complete backup plan on its own.

Think about what you want to store before choosing a capacity. Image collections, video files and working project folders take up different amounts of space, so the number of projects that fit will depend on their contents. The 2TB capacity is the concrete figure here. USB-C and USB 3.1 are useful details to compare with the connection setup you intend to use, without assuming a particular transfer rate or device compatibility.
