The Laowa 105mm F2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens is a short telephoto lens, primarily designed for full-frame Sony cameras with an E-mount . However, it is also compatible with APS-C models, offering an equivalent focal length of 168mm. This unique lens' inventive optical design includes an Apodization (APD) element, making it an excellent choice for shooting with a full control of exposure and depth of field. Its design encompasses two distinct apertures, with 8 and 14 blades, giving smoothened bokeh besides the entire exposure and depth control. It crafts more circular out-of-focus highlight and added an engaging selective focus for shallow depth-of-field effects.

The APD element in this lens serves as a radial gradient gray filter, which as a result, limits the light transmission having a T-stop value of 3.2. Alongside selective depth of field, this lens provides particular attention to the qualities of a true f/2 design.
