Fujifilm pairs that reach with optical stabilisation to help steady the view when you’re working at longer focal lengths. This is an interchangeable telephoto zoom for Fujifilm X cameras with APS-C sensors, suited to photographers who follow wildlife, birds and sport, as well as events and portraits where you can’t always move closer. The included XF1.4X TC WR adds another option when your subject is especially far away. At the wide end, the lens’s maximum aperture is f/4.5; at the long end it’s f/5.6, so available light matters more as you zoom in. It’s a substantial reach-focused setup, rather than a compact everyday zoom.

Specialist Note

Bird photographers and people following field sports will get the most from this combination: both often need to frame tightly while staying well back. On a Fujifilm X APS-C body, the lens gives the angle of view of roughly 150-600mm on full frame; the 1.4x converter takes that framing to about 210-840mm equivalent. For a bird in flight, I’d start around 1/1000 sec and raise ISO as needed to keep the subject sharp. The f/5.6 maximum at the long end is a real consideration in dim light, and the converter makes that reach most useful when there’s enough light. Stabilisation helps with camera movement, but it won’t freeze a moving subject.
