Western Digital SSD My Passport 500GB R 1050MB/s Space Grey

Western Digital SSD My Passport 500GB R 1050MB/s Space Grey | Keep working files close at hand

Running short on room for a photo folder or current project can interrupt a day’s work. The Western Digital My Passport is an external SSD that gives you 500GB of storage in a compact, portable format. Its stated read speed is 1,050 MB/s, a useful figure when you’re looking for quicker access to files than a traditional hard drive may offer. Actual transfer times depend on the files and the setup you use, so that number is best treated as a reference rather than a promise for every copy. The grey finish keeps the look restrained, without drawing attention to the drive on a desk. It suits photographers and other creatives who want a separate place for active files or a handy copy of work they need to carry. For a full archive, 500GB may call for a little planning; for selected folders, it gives you a clear amount of space to work with.

A straightforward way to keep files nearby

An external SSD can help keep working files separate from the computer you’re using, which makes it easier to organise a project around the files you need most. This My Passport model is a sensible size of storage for selected shoots, exports or documents, rather than a reason to move every file you own. The read-speed figure is most relevant when you open or access stored data; it shouldn’t be read as a guaranteed speed for every task. If you’re choosing a drive for a particular workflow, think about how much material you want to keep on it and how often you’ll need to retrieve those files. That makes the 500GB capacity easier to judge against your own routine.
