7Artisans 35mm T1.5 Dream Series - Panasonic/Leica L-Mount | Fast manual focus for video

On an interior set where the light is fading but the scene still needs to feel intimate, a fast standard prime can earn its place. The 7Artisans 35mm T1.5 Dream Series is an interchangeable lens for Leica L-mount cameras, made with video and filmmaking in mind. Its 35mm focal length gives you a standard view that can include both a person and some of their surroundings, while the T1.5 maximum aperture gives you room to work in lower light. It’s a sensible fit for filmmakers who prefer to set focus themselves and shape each shot deliberately. Use it for dialogue, short films or detail-led scenes where you want control over the framing and focus. This is a manual-focus lens, so it suits a considered shooting pace better than scenes that depend on autofocus tracking.

Specialist Note

The T1.5 aperture gives you a more direct way to keep a dim dialogue scene moving than relying on extra light for every shot. I’d use it for a close conversation or a quiet, available-light interior: at T1.5, you can work with the light already in the scene and make exposure decisions from there. Manual focus also makes this a better fit for planned focus changes than fast, unpredictable action; take time to set your focus for the subject before rolling. It’s aimed at L-mount filmmakers who want hands-on control, and its fixed 35mm view means you’ll need to reframe by moving the camera rather than zooming.
