DZOFILM X-Tract 18-28mm Metric 90° T8 FF Peri Probe Macro
DZOFILM X-Tract 18-28mm Metric 90° T8 FF Peri Probe Macro | Reach unusual macro viewpoints
Getting close to a small subject can be difficult when a straight-on view won’t show the detail or angle you want. The DZOFILM X-Tract is an interchangeable full-frame macro lens with a 90° peri-probe viewing direction, designed to help create close-up images from less usual viewpoints. Its 18-28mm focal range gives you room to adjust the framing, from a wider view of the surroundings to a tighter look at the subject. That makes it relevant for product details, nature close-ups and other macro work where perspective matters as much as magnification. It’s a specialist lens for filmmakers and image-makers who want to build an unusual point of view into a shot, rather than rely on a conventional head-on close-up. The practical benefit is a distinct side-looking perspective for subjects that are awkward to frame straight on.
Specialist Note
Can the X-Tract give you a side-on macro view? Yes: its 90° peri-probe design is the key reason to consider this lens. I’d look at it for product work where you want detail from an unexpected direction, or for nature close-ups where the surrounding perspective helps shape the shot. The maximum aperture is T8, so plan on giving the subject plenty of light rather than expecting to work in dim conditions. Manual focus also means you’ll want to make small, deliberate adjustments to keep the detail where you want it. It suits a patient, controlled setup; the specific viewpoint is the appeal, but T8 makes lighting part of the job.
