7Artisans 24mm f/1.4 Fujifilm FX-Mount | A bright, flexible wide-angle view

A 24mm wide-angle prime with a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture gives this 7Artisans a useful balance: room for broad scenes, with extra light available when conditions get dim. It’s made for Fujifilm X-mount APS-C cameras and suits photographers who are happy to set focus themselves. Landscapes and architecture are natural subjects, while the 61° angle of view also works well for street and travel photographs: there’s space for context without making every frame feel exaggerated. The bright aperture makes the lens relevant for astro photography, too, where shorter exposures can help keep stars looking like points of light. This is a prime, so you frame by changing your position rather than zooming. Manual focus calls for a deliberate approach, but that can suit considered compositions particularly well. Choose it when you want a bright, moderately wide view and don’t need autofocus.

Specialist Note

The 7Artisans 24mm f/1.4 is best at bringing a bright, natural-feeling view to night skies and everyday street scenes. On a Fujifilm X APS-C body, its field of view is comparable to 36mm on full frame, which gives you room to include the surroundings without going extremely wide. For stars, open the aperture to f/1.4 and focus carefully on a bright star before setting your exposure. For street scenes, manual focus rewards a little preparation: focus on the area where you expect your subject, then wait for the moment. I’d steer you elsewhere if you rely on autofocus for fast, unpredictable subjects; this lens asks you to take charge of focus.
