7Artisans 35mm T1.5 Dream Series - Nikon Z-Mount | Bright, expressive video framing

For narrative video in available light, this lens gives you a natural-looking view of a subject while keeping some of the surrounding scene in frame. The 7Artisans 35mm T1.5 Dream Series is a Nikon Z-mount standard prime with a bright T1.5 maximum aperture and manual focus. It’s aimed at filmmakers who want to shape focus themselves and work with a deliberate, cinematic pace. The wide maximum transmission can help when light is limited, and it gives you room to separate a subject from the background. A 35mm focal length also works well for dialogue, environmental portraits and everyday scene-setting without making the framing feel especially tight. It’s a focused tool for video and filmmaking rather than a lens built around automatic operation: you set focus by hand and make it part of the shot.

Specialist Note

For low-light scenes, this lens gives you a bright 35mm view before you have to lean as heavily on ISO. T1.5 is useful when you want to keep exposure up and let the background fall softer; for a natural motion look at 25 frames per second, try starting around 1/50 second and adjust exposure from there. Manual focus suits planned dialogue shots and measured focus pulls, but it asks you to do the focusing yourself, so fast, unpredictable action takes more work. On a Nikon DX body, the framing is equivalent to about 52.5mm, which makes it a more portrait-like option. I’d consider that a useful pairing when you want tighter framing from the same lens.
