7Artisans 50mm f/1.2 - Nikon Z-Mount - Black
7Artisans 50mm f/1.2 - Nikon Z-Mount - Black | Bright portraits with manual control
The defining optical choice is the f/1.2 maximum aperture: it gives you room to work with shallow depth of field and keep a subject prominent against a softer background. This 50mm standard prime is an interchangeable lens for Nikon Z cameras, with manual focus. It suits photographers who prefer to set focus themselves and want a bright lens for portraits, street scenes and travel. The 50mm focal length gives you a straightforward view for individual portraits, details spotted on a walk, or scenes where you want a natural-looking perspective. At f/1.2, you can draw attention to a face or detail against a busy setting. Manual focus does ask for more attention when moments move quickly, but for considered compositions it puts you in charge of where the image is sharp.
Specialist Note
Focusing is a deliberate part of using this lens, so it rewards a little more time than an autofocus setup. For portraits, open the aperture to f/1.2 and focus carefully on the nearer eye; the shallow depth of field helps the background recede. On a Nikon DX body, the 50mm framing is roughly equivalent to 75mm on full frame, which can suit a single person or a detail across the street better than a broad street scene. That tighter view is handy, but it’s less suited to crowded scenes where you need a wide frame, or to fast action. If you enjoy choosing the exact point of focus, this lens has a clear role.
