7Artisans Infinte 105mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount | Smooth iris control for filmmaking

Its de-clicked aperture sets the 7Artisans Infinte 105mm T2.1 apart from a stills-first standard lens: you can change the iris without click stops, which helps keep exposure adjustments smooth during a take. This short-telephoto prime suits filmmakers who want a close, deliberate frame and manual control over focus, rather than the flexibility of a zoom. On a full-frame camera, 105mm gives you a selective view for portraits, interviews and details, while the estimated 23° angle of view helps keep the composition focused on your subject. The maximum T2.1 aperture gives you room to work in available light and manage background separation, depending on your framing and subject distance. Manual focus is a natural fit for planned scenes where you can set focus with intention. It’s a specialist focal length, particularly suited to controlled video work where its tighter view and de-clicked iris have a clear purpose.

Specialist Note

The 7Artisans Infinte 105mm T2.1 is best at making tightly framed video portraits feel deliberate. For an interview, set focus manually on your subject before the take and keep the framing steady; for a detail shot, use the narrow view to leave less competing background in the frame. On a Canon APS-C (EF-S) body, its field of view is roughly equivalent to a 168mm lens on full frame, so allow room to step back. The T2.1 maximum aperture gives you some latitude in dim interiors, though this remains a long, selective view rather than an all-purpose framing option. I’d pair it with a wider lens when a filming setup needs more room to cover the scene.
