7Artisans Infinte 85mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount
7Artisans Infinte 85mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount | Smooth aperture control for video
For carefully framed dialogue scenes and composed portraits, an 85mm view keeps your subject prominent while leaving room to shape the background. The 7Artisans Infinte 85mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount is a manual-focus short telephoto prime for Canon EF cameras, with a T2.1 maximum aperture and full-frame coverage. Its 29° angle of view gives you a fairly tight frame without requiring you to crowd your subject, making it well suited to interviews, controlled scenes and detail-led shots. The de-clicked aperture control is intended for moving-image work: you can adjust exposure smoothly during a take rather than stepping through clicks. This lens makes most sense for filmmakers who want direct control over focus and aperture, and who can set up a shot deliberately. It’s less suited to fast, run-and-gun work where autofocus or rapid reframing is essential. Its strengths are considered framing, deliberate focus pulls and a bright aperture for a full-frame setup.
Specialist Note
The aperture ring’s click-free movement lets you make a gradual exposure change while filming, without the abrupt steps a clicked ring would give you. I’d suggest this lens to filmmakers who prefer to pull focus themselves and can take time to compose: at 85mm, it’s a natural fit for a tight interview frame or a carefully directed close portrait. Its 29° view helps keep the composition contained, while T2.1 gives you room to work when the scene is dimmer. On a Canon APS-C (EF-S) body, the field of view is equivalent to about 136mm, so allow more working distance for the same framing. The trade-off is manual focus; it rewards planned shots more than spontaneous action.
