camRade Raincover OB/EFP Small

camRade Raincover OB/EFP Small | Weather protection for ENG-style cameras

Rain threatens an outdoor broadcast, but the camera still needs to stay ready for the live production. The camRade Raincover OB/EFP Small is a one-piece protective cover for ENG-style system cameras on a tripod, pedestal or other camera support. It’s intended for camera operators and production crews working with larger live-production setups, where weather protection needs to leave the camera usable during filming. The flexible black cover keeps the setup visually discreet at sports events, festivals and other outdoor productions; it also suits indoor events where a camera needs protection from its surroundings. Its fit accommodates a broad range of outdoor cameras with a 5-inch or 7-inch viewfinder, including setups with a long sun hood, ENG lens and manual controls. That makes it relevant to broadcast and event crews who need access to the camera while it’s covered, rather than a cover that has to come off to operate. The Raincover closes with adjustable hook-and-loop fasteners, so its width and length can be adapted to the particular setup. It packs into a zipped storage pouch for transport between locations, ready for a sudden change in the weather.

Rain-cover details

• Adjustable hook-and-loop closure: Fasteners let you alter the cover’s width and length around your camera arrangement. That helps accommodate differences in the supported setup without relying on a fixed, tailored shape.
• Water-repellent fabric: The fabric shields the camera from poor weather while still allowing access to essential controls and components. It’s suited to outdoor production, but the source describes it as water-repellent, not as a fully waterproof camera enclosure.
• Clear control windows: Vinyl windows provide access to the camera’s manual controls while the cover is on. Operators can work the relevant controls through the openings instead of removing the cover during a shoot.
• Rubber lens seal: A rubber strip closes around the lens to form a close fit at the front of the camera. The clear lens window can be fastened up with hook-and-loop when it isn’t being used.
• Open or closed underside: The bottom can be left open for access, or closed when wind makes that preferable. This gives crews a way to adapt the cover’s lower opening to the conditions around the camera.
• Single-piece construction: The cover goes on and comes off as one piece, keeping setup straightforward when weather protection is needed between takes or during a change in conditions.
