easyCover Lens Oak 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sony E / Leica L Timber HTC Cam
easyCover Lens Oak 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sony E / Leica L Timber HTC Cam | A patterned cover for changing weather
A shower can arrive while you’re out photographing birds or wildlife, and that’s when a lens rain cover earns its place. This easyCover Lens Oak is made for the 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS lens in Sony E or Leica L versions. It gives you a cover to use around the lens when the weather turns, without changing the lens you’ve chosen for the day. The Timber HTC Cam version has a patterned finish, so it also brings a distinctive outdoor look to your setup. Its appeal is specific: this isn’t a general-purpose accessory, but a cover identified for one lens designation and the two listed versions. If that’s the lens you use outdoors, it’s a straightforward way to have a rain cover suited to that setup.
Working with the 100–400mm range
The zoom range lets you frame a subject at 100mm or reach farther with the lens at 400mm, which is handy when wildlife is keeping its distance. As you zoom, the maximum aperture changes from f/5 to f/6.3. In practice, that makes bright conditions a helpful partner for distant subjects, especially when you want to keep a quicker shutter speed. The cover is for the lens; it doesn’t change those optical characteristics.
Specialist Note
The Timber HTC Cam pattern gives this cover a distinct, outdoorsy look, which suits a lens you’re taking out for wildlife. I’d consider it for birdwatching or watching animals from a distance: the 100–400mm range lets you tighten your framing as a subject moves farther away, while the cover is there for changing weather. The f/5–6.3 aperture is worth keeping in mind, too; at the long end, bright light helps if you need a faster shutter speed. This is a specific match for the named lens, rather than a cover to choose by appearance alone. Make sure the lens designation and version match your setup.
