easyCover Lens Oak For RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM Green
easyCover Lens Oak For RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM Green - Neoprene protection in green camouflage
Neoprene is the defining material of the easyCover Lens Oak For RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM Green: its soft inner surface sits against the lens, while the outside repels water. This cover is made specifically for the Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM, so it’s a purpose-made way to protect that particular lens rather than a general lens pouch. The green camouflage finish gives the cover a distinct look, and the material adds a layer between the lens and the knocks and scrapes that can happen as equipment is carried or handled. It’s relevant for wildlife photographers taking a telephoto lens out into the field, as well as for anyone transporting this lens between locations. The water-repellent outer surface is useful when the weather turns damp, while the soft inside helps keep the cover’s contact with the lens gentle. Installation is described as easy, so fitting the cover needn’t become a lengthy part of getting your kit ready. It’s a straightforward protective accessory with a clear purpose: to keep this specific Canon zoom covered during everyday carrying and outdoor use.
Protection and fit
- Made for the Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM: The Lens Oak is shaped for this named lens, giving buyers a model-specific cover rather than one intended to fit a range of lenses. That exact match is the key detail to check when choosing this accessory.
- Green camouflage finish: The green camouflage pattern gives the cover its particular appearance. It’s a useful detail for photographers who prefer their outdoor kit in subdued, nature-inspired colours.
- Helps guard against scratches: A layer of neoprene over the lens helps protect its exterior from scratches during handling and transport. That’s especially relevant when the lens is packed alongside other camera equipment.
- Helps cushion against bumps: The cover adds protection from knocks, giving the lens an extra buffer as you move your kit. It’s a protective layer, not a substitute for careful handling.
- Water-repellent outside: The outer material repels water, adding protection when conditions are damp. Water-repellent describes the surface; it doesn’t mean the cover is waterproof.
- Easy to install: The cover is described as easy to fit, so it can be put on without a complicated installation process. That’s handy when you want the lens covered before setting off.
Specialist Note
Wildlife photographers carrying the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM are the people I’d point towards this Lens Oak. That 100-500mm range is made for distant subjects, and a cover that protects the lens from scuffs and bumps makes sense when you’re taking a long zoom out into the field. I also like the choice of neoprene here: the soft inner side is gentler against the lens than a hard cover, while the water-repellent outside adds a little reassurance in damp weather. Fit it to the lens before heading out, and you have the protection in place for travel between viewpoints or while carrying your kit. Just keep in mind that water-repellent isn’t the same as waterproof; it’s an added layer, not a reason to leave the lens exposed to heavy rain.
