Formatt Hitech 67mm Front Screw Adaptor For 85mm Holder
Formatt Hitech 67mm Front Screw Adaptor For 85mm Holder | Connect a lens to an 85mm holder
To use an 85mm filter holder on a lens with a 67mm front thread, this adaptor provides the screw connection that brings the two together. The Formatt Hitech 67mm Front Screw Adaptor For 85mm Holder is made for photographers building a filter setup around those two sizes. It gives you a way to mount the holder at the front of the lens, so you can work with filters in the holder rather than relying on a filter that screws directly onto the lens. That can be handy when composing a landscape with a bright sky and you want to position a filter in front of the lens. The key is to match both ends of the setup: the lens needs a 67mm front thread, and the holder needs to be the 85mm size this adaptor is intended for. It’s a specific linking part, rather than a holder or filter in its own right.
Fitting it into your setup
Start by identifying the lens’s front thread size, then use this adaptor to connect the 85mm holder to that 67mm fitting. Once the holder is in place, you can compose with the filter arrangement in front of the lens. For a landscape, that means you can position a filter to manage a bright area of sky while framing the rest of the scene. The adaptor’s role is simply to bridge the stated sizes; it doesn’t replace the holder or determine which filters you use. Keeping those parts separate also makes it easier to plan a setup around the holder you already own, provided its size is 85mm.
Specialist Note
This adaptor solves the specific size mismatch between a 67mm lens thread and an 85mm holder without changing the holder itself. The 67mm figure is the screw connection to match at the front of your lens; the 85mm figure tells you which holder it’s made to connect. I’d consider it when you want to use filters in an 85mm holder for a landscape, especially when you need to place a filter in front of a bright sky. Do check the thread size on the lens you plan to use: this is a precise fit, not a general-purpose connector. If those two sizes match your setup, it keeps the job straightforward.
