Formatt Hitech FC ND 95mm Graduated ND 0.3 (1 Stop) Filter
Formatt Hitech FC ND 95mm Graduated ND 0.3 (1 Stop) Filter | Balance bright skies and darker foregrounds
Hold detail in a bright sky while keeping a darker landscape visible with a graduated neutral density filter. The Formatt Hitech FC ND 95mm Graduated ND 0.3 (1 Stop) Filter reduces light by one stop across its graduated area, helping balance a scene where the sky is brighter than the land. It suits landscape photographers and anyone working with a horizon that would otherwise leave either the sky too bright or the foreground too dark in the same exposure. Use the graduated area over the brighter part of the frame to moderate that difference, while leaving the darker part less affected. The ND 0.3 rating gives a specific, modest reduction: one stop, rather than a heavier darkening across the whole image. That makes this filter useful when the brightness gap is present but you don't want to lose as much light as a stronger filter would. Its stated size is 95mm, so it’s a filter to consider for setups built around that size.
Specialist Note
A graduated ND filter deals with a bright sky and darker ground more directly than darkening the whole frame. This one reduces exposure by one stop, so it’s a measured adjustment when the sky is just pulling attention away from the landscape. I’d use it with the graduated area positioned over the bright part of the scene, then compose so the transition sits around the horizon. The 95mm size is the practical point to match to your filter setup before planning a shoot. It suits landscape work where you want to retain detail across a brighter sky and a less-lit foreground; for a much larger brightness gap, one stop may not be enough.
