Formatt Hitech Firecrest 62mm Superslim UV IR Cut
Formatt Hitech Firecrest 62mm Superslim UV IR Cut | Targeted UV and infrared filtration
Stray ultraviolet or infrared light can get in the way when you want a picture made with visible light alone. The Formatt Hitech Firecrest 62mm Superslim UV IR Cut is designed to cut UV and IR, making it a specialist filter for photographers whose imaging setup calls for that control. Its purpose is more specific than a general-purpose filter, so it suits considered workflows rather than someone looking for an all-round effect filter. The superslim design keeps the filter’s profile low at the front of the lens, which is handy when you want to keep the setup compact. Use it for visible-light landscape work or other scenes where controlling UV and infrared is part of your approach. It won’t add a creative colour effect or replace a filter chosen for a different task; its value is in the particular wavelengths it targets. If that’s the control your setup needs, this Firecrest gives you a focused option in a 62mm size.
Specialist Note
“What does the UV IR Cut part do on this Firecrest?” It’s there to filter ultraviolet and infrared light, so I’d consider it when your aim is to record a visible-light image without those wavelengths in the mix. The 62mm size is the practical detail to match to your lens’s filter thread; get that right and you can use the filter on the intended lens. Its superslim profile keeps the front of the setup less bulky, which I appreciate when adding a filter to a carefully arranged rig. I’d suggest it for landscape work or controlled visible-light imaging, not as a general effect filter. Its job is deliberately specific.
