Formatt Hitech Firecrest Magnetic Lens Cap
Formatt Hitech Firecrest Magnetic Lens Cap | Keeps your lens covered between shots
After a photo, as you put your camera away, a lens cap gives the front of the lens a cover for the journey. The Formatt Hitech Firecrest Magnetic Lens Cap is a magnetic cap for that simple job: cover the lens when you’re not shooting, then remove the cover when you’re ready to take a picture. Its name identifies both the Firecrest line and the magnetic attachment, so it’s aimed at photographers using a compatible magnetic setup who want a cap that belongs with that system. It’s most useful as part of your regular pack-away routine, whether the camera is going into a bag between locations or staying on a shelf at home. A cap won’t change how a filter renders a scene or affect exposure; its role is to cover the lens while it’s idle. If you need a cap for a non-magnetic arrangement, this isn’t the product to assume will fit.
Specialist Note
The magnetic attachment is the defining physical detail here: it gives the cap a magnetic way to sit in place, rather than asking you to treat it as a screw-in filter. I’d consider it if you already use the matching magnetic setup and want the front of your lens covered during breaks or when packing up. My practical advice is one simple habit: put the cap back on as soon as you’ve finished shooting, then remove it before framing the next picture. That keeps its job clear and avoids expecting it to do anything to the image. It’s a focused accessory, not a universal fit; the magnetic system is what makes it relevant.
