Godox IM22 i Flash Camera Flash White | Compact light for everyday shooting
Without a dedicated flash, indoor portraits and event scenes can end up relying on the room’s lighting alone. The Godox IM22 i Flash Camera Flash White is a compact 34 g speedlight with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, made for adding light without weighing down your camera setup. Its small body is easy to carry for street photography and travel documentation, while its on-camera flash is also useful for indoor portraits and events. In harsh sunshine, use it as fill light to soften strong shadows on a subject. Five power settings give you a choice of output to suit the scene, rather than a single fixed level. Charging is via USB-C, so the flash can be topped up using a compatible charging source. For photographers who want a small, self-contained flash to keep close at hand, the IM22 keeps the setup simple and portable.
How it lights
- Five power levels: Choose from five output settings to adjust the flash for a portrait, a small still-life subject or a brighter scene.
- USB-C charging: The built-in lithium battery recharges through a USB-C port, so there’s no separate battery to remove for charging.
- Small footprint: At 57 × 40 × 22 mm, the flash takes up little space in a camera bag and sits neatly on the camera’s hot shoe.
- Lightweight body: Its 34 g weight adds very little to a camera you’re carrying for travel or street photography.
- Rechargeable battery: The internal battery keeps the flash self-contained; a full charge takes approximately 110 minutes.
Power and compatibility
At full power, the IM22 is rated for up to 440 flashes, with a recycle time of about three seconds between full-power firings. It uses a single-contact hot-shoe connection to trigger the flash. The supplier describes compatibility with a broad range of hot-shoe cameras, including DSLR, mirrorless and entry-level models, without naming specific camera systems.
Specialist Note
The 110-minute charging time means I’d top it up before a planned event, rather than wait until the last minute. The reason I’d still recommend the IM22 is its 34 g weight: it’s easy to keep on the camera when you’re moving around at a gathering or travelling light. For an indoor portrait, choose one of its five power levels to add a controlled touch of flash; in harsh sun, use it as fill to soften shadows on your subject. It’s a straightforward small flash, especially appealing when portability matters more than a bulky setup.
