H&Y Black Mist 1/8 Magnetic Filter For RevoRing VND/CPL 46-62mm
H&Y Black Mist 1/8 Magnetic Filter For RevoRing VND/CPL 46-62mm | Add gentle highlight diffusion magnetically
The defining optical choice is a 1/8 Black Mist effect: it’s designed to soften the look of bright highlights without making diffusion the whole point of the image. That restrained strength suits photographers who want a gentler rendering of practical lights, reflections or bright skin highlights, while keeping the scene recognisable. This is a magnetic filter made for the RevoRing VND/CPL in the 46-62mm size range, so it’s aimed at photographers already using that setup and wanting to add a Black Mist look to it. It’s especially relevant for portraits with lamps in the background, or evening street scenes where illuminated signs and windows can feel harsh. The magnetic attachment also makes it practical to add or remove the effect as a scene changes. Think of it as a creative finishing choice, rather than a filter for correcting exposure or colour.
Specialist Note
Portrait photographers who like a lamp or window light in the frame are the people I’d point towards this H&Y. The 1/8 strength keeps the Black Mist treatment subtle, so it’s a sensible starting point for portraits where you want softened highlights without letting the effect dominate. For evening street scenes, attach it to your RevoRing VND/CPL when bright signs look a little too crisp; taking it off again is straightforward when you want a cleaner rendering. The magnetic design suits that changeable approach. Just bear in mind that 1/8 is a gentle grade: if you’re after an obviously hazy, pronounced look, this may be milder than you want. Its use is specific to the RevoRing VND/CPL size range named here.
