H&Y RevoRing Black Mist 1/8 Filter 58-77mm
H&Y RevoRing Black Mist 1/8 Filter 58-77mm | Gentle glow around bright highlights
Give bright points of light a soft halo and take some of the hard edge off a scene with the H&Y RevoRing Black Mist 1/8 Filter 58-77mm. It’s a Black Mist filter with a subtle 1/8 strength, suited to photographers and filmmakers who want a gentler, more atmospheric rendering without making diffusion the whole point of the image. Use it for portraits with bright lights in the background, or for night scenes where lamps and signs can take on a softer glow. The 58-77mm sizing makes this an option for lenses with filter sizes within that range, so it can suit more than one lens in a kit. The effect is intentionally visible around highlights, rather than a neutral look: that’s useful when you want a softer mood, but less suitable when every bright edge needs to stay sharply defined. It gives you a simple way to bring that character into the image at capture.
Specialist Note
This filter gives bright highlights a softer, more cinematic presence without making the diffusion especially strong. The 1/8 strength is the gentle end of the Black Mist look, so I’d suggest it if you want a little bloom around practical lights rather than a pronounced haze across the frame. The 58-77mm range is handy if you use lenses with different filter sizes within that span; it can make one filter a more flexible part of your kit. For portraits, try placing a bright lamp behind your subject; for evening street scenes, let signs and lights sit in the background. Just bear in mind that the soft glow is part of the picture, not something to use when you need a strictly crisp rendering.
