Hahnemühle DFA Photo Rag Ultra Smooth 305GSM 152.4cmx12m

Hahnemühle DFA Photo Rag Ultra Smooth 305GSM 152.4cmx12m | A wide roll for large prints

Instead of choosing a stack of individual sheets for each print, a roll gives you one continuous length of paper to plan around. Hahnemühle DFA Photo Rag Ultra Smooth is a photo paper roll, 152.4 cm wide and 12 m long, with a stated weight of 305 gsm. That format makes sense when your print plans call for a broad sheet or several prints cut from the same roll. The product name also identifies it as Ultra Smooth, which is useful when that surface description is part of your paper selection. The honest point to consider is scale: this is a substantial-width roll, so it suits a print workflow planned around wide paper rather than occasional small sheets. If you’re comparing paper by its named finish, roll dimensions and weight, those are the details this title gives you to work with.

Planning around the roll

The width is 152.4 cm, or 1.524 m. That gives you a straightforward measurement to compare with the width of the prints you have in mind; allow for any margins or trimming in your own layout. The roll is 12 m long, so you can plan a run of prints against a single length of paper and decide where to cut it. How many prints you’ll get depends on the size of each print and the space you leave between them.

The 305 gsm figure is the paper’s stated weight per square metre. It’s a useful number to keep alongside the dimensions when comparing paper options, but it doesn’t tell you by itself how a particular print will look. For this product, the title’s “Photo Rag Ultra Smooth” wording is the available surface and paper description. If your work needs a very specific finish or a particular paper profile, make that part of your selection process too. This is a focused option for someone who already knows they want a wide roll and can make practical use of its 12 m length, rather than a small-format sheet pack.
