Hahnemühle Hah DFA Photo Rag Ultra Smooth 305GSM 162.6cmx12m

Hahnemühle Hah DFA Photo Rag Ultra Smooth 305GSM 162.6cmx12m | Large-format photo paper on a 12-metre roll

You’re preparing a large print and need paper in a roll format rather than a small pack of sheets. This Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth roll is 162.6 cm wide and 12 m long, with a paper weight of 305 gsm. Those are the key details to plan around: its substantial width suits print jobs that call for a broad sheet, while the roll length gives you a continuous length of paper to work with. The product name also specifies an ultra-smooth finish. It’s a specialist option for photographers and print studios choosing photo paper by its surface, weight and roll dimensions. The honest point is that the title alone doesn’t tell us how it will render a particular image, so the right choice depends on the look you want and the dimensions of your planned prints.

Planning your prints

Before choosing a roll, compare the paper width with the final print dimensions you have in mind. Leave room in your calculations for any borders or trimming you plan to do; the full roll width won’t necessarily be the same as the finished image area. The 12-metre length is useful to know when estimating how much paper a run of prints may take, although the number of prints will depend on their size and how you cut the roll. If you’re selecting paper for a particular image, think about the surface as well as the dimensions: this product is identified as Ultra Smooth. That gives you a clear starting point for matching the paper to your intended presentation.
