Hama Optical Audio Cable ODT-Connector (TosLink) 5.0 M

Hama Optical Audio Cable ODT-Connector (TosLink) 5.0 M | Route optical audio over a longer run

Run an optical audio connection between two pieces of equipment with TosLink sockets, without having to place them right beside each other. The Hama Optical Audio Cable ODT-Connector (TosLink) 5.0 M is a 5-metre cable for that job, with an ODT (TosLink) connector and a black finish. It suits a home setup where the audio equipment sits across the room, inside a cabinet, or along a different stretch of furniture. The useful point here is the extra reach: you can plan a route around the layout rather than making the cable length dictate where everything goes. It’s a straightforward cable, and its purpose is specific—carrying optical audio between suitable connections. If your equipment uses TosLink, this gives you a longer run to work with.

Before settling on a route, measure the path the cable will actually take, not just the straight-line distance between the devices. Allow for the way it needs to travel around furniture and down to the connection points. A little planning helps avoid pulling the cable tight or leaving an awkward loop in view. The black colour is discreet against many dark cabinets and along skirting boards, though how visible it is will depend on your room. One practical consideration: a 5-metre cable gives you room to route around obstacles, but it still needs a considered path. Keep the connection points accessible, and leave enough slack to position the equipment comfortably. That’s the simple reason to choose this length—more flexibility in where the two connected devices can sit.
