Hawke RS Fastmount 6-24x50 AO 1 IR Mil

Hawke RS Fastmount 6-24x50 AO 1 IR Mil | Adjustable magnification for detailed viewing

It’s frustrating when one fixed level of magnification doesn’t suit every viewing distance. The Hawke RS Fastmount 6-24x50 gives you a range from 6x to 24x, so you can use lower magnification for a broader view and increase it when you want to examine a distant subject more closely. The 50 in the name refers to its objective size, while AO and 1 IR Mil are part of the model designation. This monocular suits someone looking for variable magnification in a single optical instrument, rather than a pair of binoculars. Its broad zoom range is the main reason to consider it: you can move between the two ends of the range as your view changes. One practical point: at 24x, small movements are more noticeable, so a steady position helps when viewing at the highest setting.

Making use of the zoom range

The 6x end gives you a less magnified view than 24x, which can make it easier to take in more of a scene at once. Turn up the magnification when a subject is farther away or you want to inspect it more closely. That flexibility is useful when you don’t want to commit to a single power before you begin looking. The 50 designation gives the model its objective size, and the name also identifies it as AO 1 IR Mil. Those markings are useful when comparing this exact Hawke model with another one: they keep the product identity clear without relying on a vague description such as “zoom monocular”.
