Hawke Sunshade Standard Objective 36mm
Hawke Sunshade Standard Objective 36mm | Help manage stray light
A more comfortable view in bright conditions is the practical reason to add a sunshade to your optic. The Hawke Sunshade Standard Objective 36mm is a lens hood intended to shield the objective from light arriving at an angle, which can help reduce unwanted glare. It suits someone looking for a simple way to manage side light while viewing outdoors, especially in open surroundings where the sun can catch the front of the optic. Its role is focused: it doesn’t change magnification or how you use the optic; it helps with the light around the objective. This is a size-specific accessory, so match the objective measurement on the optic you plan to use it with. If it’s the right match, the shade can help make bright viewing less distracting. It won’t replace choosing a good position relative to the sun, but it gives you another way to manage stray light.
Specialist Note
36 mm is the objective size this sunshade is named for, so in practice it’s the measurement to match at the front of your optic. I’d start there rather than guessing from the shape or size of the optic body. As a sunshade, its job is to help limit light entering from the side; that makes it most relevant for daytime viewing in bright or open surroundings. If you’re using an optic with a 36 mm objective, this is the specific size to consider. “Standard” is part of the product name, so I’d stick to that full name when identifying the accessory.
