Ilford Cotton Artist Textured 310GSM 50" 127cmx15m 1ROLL

Ilford Cotton Artist Textured 310GSM 50" 127cmx15m 1ROLL | A wide roll with a tactile, textured finish

Choosing paper for a print can be frustrating when a smooth, ordinary surface doesn’t suit the look you have in mind. Ilford Cotton Artist Textured gives you a named textured surface in a substantial 310gsm weight, supplied as a wide roll for print work where sheet size matters. It’s aimed at photographers and artists who want their prints to have a more paper-led, artwork-like presence, rather than the feel of a plain smooth sheet. The roll is 127cm wide and 15m long, so you can plan larger pieces or several prints from one continuous length. That format also calls for some thought about how you’ll handle and cut the paper in your own workflow. The honest point: texture is a deliberate part of the result, so choose it when that surface character suits the image, not when you want a smooth finish.

Choosing the roll format

The 50-inch width is the detail to consider first. At 127cm, this is a broad roll, giving you room to work with prints that need more width than a standard cut sheet can provide. The 15m length gives you continuous stock to work from, rather than a set of individual sheets. That can be useful when you’re planning a group of prints in different lengths; decide on the finished dimensions before cutting, and allow for your own trimming needs.

Its name brings together three clear cues: Cotton Artist, a textured surface and a 310gsm weight. Those details make this a paper to choose for the character of the finished print, not simply because it comes in a large roll. Think about how the texture will sit alongside the subject and presentation you have in mind. For artwork-style photographic prints, the surface itself can be part of the visual choice. If a smooth appearance is essential to your project, this textured paper is the wrong direction.
