Ilford MGFB5K Classic 40.6x50.8cm 10V | Large-format photo paper

When you’re planning a print around a generous sheet size, it helps to choose the paper by its dimensions first. Ilford MGFB5K Classic is photo paper measuring 40.6 x 50.8 cm, a format suited to projects where a smaller sheet would change the intended presentation. It’s a specific size, so this is a considered purchase rather than an everyday, all-purpose paper choice. The product name also includes “10V”; that’s part of the title and useful to keep in mind when matching it to a paper list or order. The supplier identifies its colour as black. For a photographer preparing a print at this scale, the key appeal is having the intended format in hand before the printing session begins. There’s no need to make the sheet size fit the image after the fact: it gives you a clear starting point for planning the print.

Choosing the sheet size

Before adding this paper to a project, think about the print you’re setting out to make and the space you have for working with a sheet of this size. The dimensions are the most useful detail for that decision: they let you compare the paper with the presentation you have in mind, rather than relying on a vague description such as “large”. That’s particularly helpful when you’re preparing a batch of prints to a consistent format, or when a particular sheet size is already part of your plan. The honest limitation is that size alone doesn’t tell you how a paper will behave in a specific workflow, so this description keeps to what’s established: it’s Ilford MGFB5K Classic photo paper, in a 40.6 x 50.8 cm format, with black given as its colour. If those details match the print you’re planning, you can make the choice on a clear basis.
