Ilford MGFBCT1K 12.7x17.8cm 100V | Photo paper in a considered print size

When you’re choosing paper for a particular print, the sheet size can shape the whole decision. The Ilford MGFBCT1K is photo paper measuring 12.7 x 17.8 cm, with “100V” included in its product name. It suits photographers selecting paper for individual prints and who want to work from a clearly stated format rather than leave the final presentation to chance. The supplier lists its colour as black. That’s the information we can be specific about, so I won’t dress it up with claims about how the paper renders an image. At Renz, I’d start by considering the photograph you want to print and how you plan to present it. If this format fits the job, the named Ilford paper gives you a clear product reference when you’re making your selection.

Planning the print

Before you print, think about the image’s crop as well as the finished sheet. A photograph framed tightly in camera may need a different crop from one with space around the subject; deciding that early helps you judge how the image will sit on the paper. If you’re planning to mount or frame the print, allow for the visible area you want around it. That’s a practical step, not a special feature of this paper: it helps you choose a sheet size that works with the photograph and the way you intend to show it. The listed dimensions give you a concrete starting point for that decision. Keep the product name to hand when ordering or comparing your print plans, so you’re referring to this exact Ilford paper rather than relying on a general description.
