JJC F-ND6x72 MRC Pro ND Filter (6 Stops) 72mm
JJC F-ND6x72 MRC Pro ND Filter (6 Stops) 72mm | Create longer exposures in bright light
Bright light can leave you with shutter speeds too fast to show movement, or make it difficult to use a wider aperture. The JJC F-ND6x72 MRC Pro ND Filter cuts the light reaching your camera by six stops, giving you more room to choose those settings while keeping exposure under control. It’s a practical option for photographers who want flowing water or motion blur in daylight, and for anyone who wants more control over aperture in bright conditions. The filter is 72mm, so it’s for a lens with a matching 72mm filter thread. Its fixed six-stop reduction is a strong, specific amount of light control rather than an adjustable range; that makes it straightforward to plan around, but less flexible when the light changes. If you know you want a noticeably longer exposure, this filter gives you a clear starting point.
Specialist Note
Can this JJC six-stop filter give you a long daytime exposure? Yes: six stops means 64 times less light reaches the sensor, so a metered 1/60 sec exposure becomes about one second if you keep the same aperture and ISO. That’s enough to soften moving water or show movement in clouds, provided conditions and framing suit the effect. The 72mm size is the other detail to get right: it fits a lens with a 72mm filter thread, not simply any lens on your camera. I’d suggest it to someone who has a particular long-exposure look in mind. Its fixed reduction is the limitation too; it can be too much when light is already low.
