Kaiser Diascop 3 Diaviewer – 3x magnifying double lens

Kaiser Diascop 3 Diaviewer uses a 3x magnifying double lens to enlarge the view of a slide. It’s for anyone who wants to look through a collection of mounted transparencies, from family photographs to travel images and archive slides. The dedicated viewing format keeps the focus on one image at a time: you can review slides while sorting them, pause over a frame before filing it away, or simply revisit pictures that have been stored for years. The double lens is the defining feature, giving you a magnified view without turning slide inspection into a projection session. This is a straightforward, purpose-made accessory for viewing framed slides, rather than a device for scanning or digitising them. Its battery power and built-in lamp make it a self-contained viewer; the batteries are bought separately. The format and power details are worth noting before you choose it for a particular slide collection.

What it does

• For framed 5 x 5 slides: The Diascop 3 is intended for slides in a 5 x 5 frame. That gives collectors a clear format to look for when selecting a viewer for mounted transparencies.
• Battery powered: It runs on two 1.5V batteries, which aren’t included. There’s no mains lead to manage during viewing, so you can position the unit where it’s convenient for your slide-sorting session.
• Illuminated viewing: A 2.5V, 0.3A E10 lamp provides the light for viewing slides. The lamp specification is useful to keep to hand if you need to identify the correct type later.
• Compact dimensions: The viewer measures 80 x 160 x 170 mm. These measurements give you a concrete idea of its size when setting aside a place for it among your photo accessories or storing it between uses.
• Magnifying double lens: The 3x magnification enlarges the slide image as you view it. That’s useful when you want to examine a transparency directly, rather than relying on a projected image on a screen.
