Kondor Blue KB-FCF-ND9 Firecrest Alloy Cine IRND 4x5.65" Filters ND 0.9
Kondor Blue KB-FCF-ND9 Firecrest Alloy Cine IRND 4x5.65" Filters ND 0.9 | Three-stop light control in cinema format
Kondor Blue KB-FCF-ND9 Firecrest Alloy Cine IRND 4x5.65" Filters ND 0.9 is a cinema-format neutral-density filter with a 0.9 rating, which corresponds to three stops of light reduction. It’s made for filmmakers and camera crews who need to manage exposure while keeping their chosen aperture and shutter settings. That makes it relevant for daylight scenes where you want to retain a particular depth of field or motion rendering without changing those settings. The 4x5.65-inch size identifies it for setups built around that cinema filter format, rather than a round screw-in filter. “IRND” denotes infrared neutral density, while “Alloy” identifies its construction. This is a specific-format filtration option for a cinema kit, with a clearly stated density; it isn’t a general-purpose UV filter.
Key details
- ND 0.9 density: three stops of light reduction
- 4x5.65-inch cinema filter format
- IRND designation
- Alloy construction
Exposure example
Three stops gives you a practical amount of exposure control without needing to change your other settings. For example, if your exposure calls for 1/125 sec before adding the filter, three stops less light corresponds to roughly 1/15 sec at the same aperture and ISO. In a moving-image setup, you can instead use the filter to help hold your selected shutter setting and aperture in brighter conditions.
Specialist Note
Filmmakers shaping daylight scenes, especially when they want to keep a chosen aperture, are the people I’d point toward this filter. Its 0.9 density cuts three stops, so an exposure that would otherwise call for 1/125 sec becomes about 1/15 sec if you keep the same aperture and ISO. For video, that reduction can give you room to retain your selected shutter setting instead. The 4x5.65-inch format is the detail to match to your cinema filter setup; it’s a precise size, not a substitute for a smaller circular filter. Alloy construction gives it a metal-based build, but the title alone doesn’t tell us its weight.
