Laowa 15mm f/2.0 Lens Hood (Metal)
Laowa 15mm f/2.0 Lens Hood (Metal) | Helps control stray light
Fewer washed-out highlights from light just outside the frame can help keep a wide scene looking clear. The Laowa 15mm f/2.0 Lens Hood (Metal) is a lens hood for the Laowa 15mm f/2.0 lens, intended to help limit stray light reaching the lens. It suits photographers who use that lens for landscapes, architecture or interiors, where bright windows, the sun or a lamp can sit near the edge of a composition. A hood is a straightforward accessory, but it can make a difference when you want to keep contrast in a scene with strong light. This version is made of metal, so it also gives you a firm, fitted accessory rather than a loose piece of fabric. It’s a focused purchase: useful when stray light is an issue, but it won’t change the lens’s field of view or make a dim scene brighter.
Specialist Note
It’s easy to think a lens hood only earns its place in direct sunshine; with a very wide lens, light from just beyond the picture can matter too. For a bright interior, fit this hood before framing windows near the edge, then check whether the contrast holds up as you compose. The 15mm focal length is well suited to including a broad room or streetscape, while the lens’s f/2.0 aperture gives you room to work in lower light; the hood’s job is to manage stray light, not to brighten the scene. Its metal construction makes it a more solid part of the setup, though it won’t remove flare caused by a light source inside the frame.
