Laowa 8-16mm - Canon EOS-M (Lao-0816-EM)

Laowa 8-16mm - Canon EOS-M | Go wide for landscapes and architecture

The defining design choice is the 8–16mm zoom range: it gives Canon EOS-M photographers room to frame broad scenes at one end and a more selective view at the other. This is an interchangeable wide-angle lens with manual focus, made for photographers who want to decide precisely what fits into the frame. It’s especially suited to landscapes and architecture, where a wider viewpoint can help include a sweeping setting or more of a building. At 8mm, you can work with a very broad composition; at 16mm, you can narrow the view without changing lenses. Manual focus makes it a considered tool rather than a point-and-shoot option, so it suits photographers happy to take care over focus and framing. If your pictures often need a wider view than a standard lens gives you, this Laowa offers a useful range to explore.

Where this lens fits your photography

Think of it as a specialist for scenes where the surroundings matter. In a landscape, the zoom range lets you adjust how much foreground and sky share the frame. For architecture, it gives you options for including more of a façade or choosing a less expansive composition. The same lens can serve both subjects, so you can respond to the scene without switching to a different focal length range.
