Laowa Proteus 2-LENS Bundle (28mm 100mm) - Blue (Meters) (Lao-28100p-B-PL)

Laowa Proteus Dual-Lens Bundle (28mm and 100mm) - Azure Edition (Measurement in meters) (LAO-28100P-B-PL)

The Laowa Proteus Dual-Lens Bundle (28mm, 100mm) - Azure (Measurement in Meters) (LAO-28100P-B-PL) offers an impressive collection of powerful lenses, including the Laowa Proteus 2X Anamorphic 28mm T2 lens - Azure (Measurement in Meters) and the Laowa Proteus 2X Anamorphic 100mm T2 lens - Azure (Measurement in Meters).

This Laowa Proteus 2X Anamorphic series thrives on the integration of anamorphic and spherical groups. Its unique optical blend balances modern image sharpness with vintage anamorphic features, such as distinctive flares and elliptical bokeh.

Both the anamorphic and spherical groups are static for stable focusing, complemented by an added variable spherical front glass. This optical layout is comparable to the design in Vantage Hawks, Cooke Anamorphic, and Atlas Orion. It offers a compression ratio of 2X, rendering 2.66:1 on a 4:3-sensor and 2.4:1 on a 6:5-sensor post-decompression. This allows for cropping an aspect ratio of 2.39:1, producing a highly-desired, ultra-wide screen cinematic feel that is a favorite in the movie industry.

An essential feature of the Laowa 2X Anamorphic series is its capability to maintain a constant compression ratio at any focusing distance; this quality prevents distorting anamorphic effects. By utilizing a bright T2 aperture, Proteus empowers filmmakers to shoot in low light conditions. Additionally, this feature encourages a shallow depth of field, ensuing a waterfall-like transition to out of focus for dreamy cinematography.

The Laowa Proteus series comfortably serves diverse filming requirements, delivering sharp and contrasting images even at maximum aperture. With its ability to focus as close as 55cm (28mm) or 99cm (100mm) from the object, and the creation of elliptical bokeh in blurs, this series contributes to highly cinematic looks. It is worth noting that the bokeh from the 2X compression ratio is noticeably leaner and longer.

Flare Colour Varieties

The Proteus range presents a palette of three different flare colours, each one suitable for a particular film genre: traditional sci-fi blue, warm and elegant amber, and neutral silver. Intriguingly, the silver version's flare colour changes in accordance with the light source. These options are marked under the focal length on every lens body.
