The Leofoto RH-1L is a tripod head with a panning clamp, made to help you frame your subject precisely and make controlled changes in direction. It suits photographers who take time to compose on a tripod, as well as panorama makers and people creating video pans. For a panorama, you can turn the camera between frames and check each composition as you go; for a video pan, the clamp gives you a dedicated way to change the camera’s direction from the tripod. The included QP-70 Quick Release Plate is part of the setup, so you can release the camera from the head when you need to. This is a focused tool for tripod work, rather than a general-purpose camera accessory.

“Is the RH-1L made for panning, or just holding the camera?” It’s a tripod head built around a panning clamp, so it’s aimed at controlled framing changes as well as keeping a composition in place. The QP-70 Quick Release Plate gives you a quick way to detach the camera when you want to move from tripod work to handheld shooting. I’d consider it for still panoramas: rotate between frames, take care to keep the composition consistent, and leave enough overlap for stitching. It also suits deliberate video pans.
