Marumi Circ Pola Filter Exus 72 mm
Marumi Circ Pola Filter Exus 72 mm | Tame Reflections and Deepen Skies
The optical choice here is circular polarisation: it lets you reduce reflections from surfaces such as water and glass, and can make a blue sky look more pronounced. That’s why you’d reach for this filter when glare is hiding detail, rather than simply to darken a scene. Its 72 mm diameter is the other defining detail; it’s made for a lens with a matching 72 mm filter thread. The effect depends on the light and your angle to the subject, so it won’t look identical in every situation. For landscape photographers, it can help separate clouds from a blue sky; for travel and everyday photography, it can make reflections on windows or water less dominant. Rotate the filter while looking through the camera to judge the change and stop when the result looks right. It’s a practical, hands-on way to control reflected light in camera.
Specialist Note
Late-afternoon light flashes across a canal, and the water’s reflection competes with the view beneath it. That’s when this Marumi polariser earns its place: rotate it while framing, and watch the surface glare change. The 72 mm size is useful if your lens has a matching filter thread, so check the diameter marked on the lens before choosing this one. Its black colour keeps the filter visually discreet on dark camera gear. I’d also use it for a blue-sky landscape, turning it gradually to find the strongest effect. One honest caveat: polarisation depends on the angle of the light, so the result can be subtle from some viewpoints.
