Marumi Slim Fit Circ Pola Filter 62 mm

Marumi Slim Fit Circ Pola Filter 62 mm | Reduce reflections and deepen skies

Without a polarising filter, reflections can wash out the look of water, glass and other non-metallic surfaces. The Marumi Slim Fit Circ Pola Filter 62 mm lets you adjust that effect as you compose, and can also make a blue sky appear deeper when the light is at a suitable angle. It’s for photographers whose lens takes a 62 mm filter and who want more control over reflections in the scene, rather than relying on editing afterwards. It’s particularly useful for outdoor landscapes, waterside views and photographs through windows, where reflected light can obscure detail. The effect changes with the filter’s rotation and your position relative to the light, so it’s something to judge through the camera as you work. This is a practical filter for shaping the light reaching the lens; it won’t remove every reflection in every situation.

Getting the polarising effect

Once the filter is fitted, look through the viewfinder or at the screen and rotate it slowly while watching the reflections. Stop when the reduction looks right for the scene. For a darker-looking blue sky, the result depends on the direction of the light: the effect is generally strongest when you’re photographing at roughly a right angle to the sun, rather than pointing towards it.
