Matin Rubber Lens Hood w/ Metalen Ring 62mm M-6220
Matin Rubber Lens Hood with Metal Ring 62mm M-6220 | Shade your lens from stray light
Less stray light reaching the lens can mean fewer washed-out frames when bright light comes from just outside your picture. The Matin Rubber Lens Hood M-6220 is a black hood made from rubber with a metal ring, in a 62mm size. It’s for photographers whose lens accepts a hood of that size and who want a simple way to shade the lens in challenging light. Try it outdoors when the sun is off to one side, or near a bright window with the window kept outside the frame. The hood’s job is to block some of that off-frame light before it reaches the lens; it won’t remove flare from a light source that appears in the picture itself. Its appeal is uncomplicated: a practical lens accessory, with a rubber construction and metal ring, for photographers who want to manage stray light without adding another camera setting to their routine.
Specialist Note
The Matin Rubber Lens Hood with Metal Ring 62mm M-6220 is best at shading a lens from bright light just outside your composition. I’d match its 62mm size to the hood fitting on your lens, then use it for outdoor scenes with the sun off to one side or for a bright window kept just beyond the frame. The rubber construction gives the hood a less hard outer material than an all-metal design, which may suit everyday handling. Its metal ring is part of the build, while the 62mm size is the detail to match. One limit to keep in mind: a hood can’t prevent flare from a lamp or sun that’s actually in your picture.
