Meike Drop-In CPL Filter For Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter
Meike Drop-In CPL Filter For Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter | Control reflections with a drop-in polariser
Reflections on water or glass can cover the detail you want in a photograph. A circular polarising filter can reduce reflections from non-metallic surfaces and deepen the appearance of a blue sky; you adjust its orientation to change the effect. This Meike CPL is made for the Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter, so it’s intended for photographers who use that adapter and want a polarising filter in its drop-in format. It’s useful for scenes where glare is distracting, such as a view through a window or a landscape with bright reflections on water. The result depends on the light and the angle you’re shooting from, so a CPL isn’t a fixed correction you can apply equally to every scene. Instead, adjust it while looking at the composition and use the amount of polarization that suits the image.
Specialist Note
Glare can make a clear view through glass feel washed out; this filter gives you a way to reduce that distraction when you’re using the specified drop-in adapter. I’d consider it for photographing a pond or a shop window: adjust the CPL while watching the reflections, and stop when you can see the detail you want. For a blue sky, the effect is usually strongest when the sun is about 90° from the direction you’re pointing, so that angle is a good starting point. It suits photographers who already use the Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter and want polarization in that format. One honest limit: the effect depends on the scene and shooting angle, so it won’t remove every reflection.
