When a standard view feels too tight for a street corner or a travel scene, changing lenses can interrupt the moment. The Meike MK 25mm f/2.0 is a wide-angle prime for Sony E Mount cameras, giving you a 25mm view in a single, straightforward lens. Its f/2 maximum aperture is useful when daylight fades or interiors are dim: opening the lens lets in more light, which can help you keep a faster shutter speed. It suits photographers who want to include context around a person, sign or building rather than isolate a distant subject. On a city walk, you can frame someone along with some of the street around them; while travelling, the wide-angle view can take in architecture, cafés and everyday scenes. The fixed focal length rewards deliberate framing and a little movement.

Specialist Note

The trade-off is that this 25mm prime doesn’t zoom, so you’ll need to step closer or reframe by moving yourself. That’s also why I’d recommend it to someone who enjoys building a picture around its surroundings, especially on street walks and city breaks. The f/2 maximum aperture gives you a practical starting point in low light: for a person crossing a lit street, try f/2 at about 1/250 sec, then raise ISO if the exposure is dark. For a quieter café scene, you can open up and let more light reach the sensor. I wouldn’t choose it when you need distant details to fill the frame.
