Meyer Optik Görlitz Primoplan 75mm f/1.9 II Canon RF-Mount
Meyer Optik Görlitz Primoplan 75mm f/1.9 II Canon RF-Mount | Soft-background portraits with a natural perspective
Portraits get a close, composed feel, with the subject separated from a softer background. The Meyer Optik Görlitz Primoplan 75mm f/1.9 II is a short telephoto prime for Canon RF cameras, suited to portrait work and events where you want to frame a person without moving right up to them. Its f/1.9 maximum aperture gives you room to work with available light and create shallow depth of field when you focus carefully. That makes it appealing for expressive portraits and candid moments in indoor settings. Focus is manual, so this lens suits photographers who enjoy taking time over placement and focus rather than relying on autofocus to follow a subject. If you’re comfortable making that adjustment yourself, it offers a deliberate way to shape the frame and draw attention to the person in it.
Specialist Note
75mm gives you a portrait-friendly view that keeps a little breathing room between you and your subject. I’d use it for a head-and-shoulders portrait, opening to f/1.9 when you want the background to fall away; take care to place focus precisely on the eye, because the depth of field is shallow at that aperture. For an event, the same wide setting can help you keep working with available light, though manual focus asks you to stay attentive when people are moving. This is a lens for someone who likes to guide focus themselves. If you need quick tracking of changing moments, that hands-on approach may feel limiting.
