Nedis High Speed HDMI-Cable w/ Ethernet

Nedis High Speed HDMI-Cable w/ Ethernet: Connect displays and AV devices

Its combination of Ethernet support, 4K at 60 Hz video and an 18 Gbit/s transfer rate sets this 5-metre Nedis High Speed HDMI-Cable w/ Ethernet apart from a basic HDMI lead. It’s a good fit for a home entertainment setup where a TV or monitor needs a wired connection to another device, with support for both video and audio over HDMI. Connect a PlayStation or Xbox to a screen, link a projector to a streaming receiver such as an Amazon Fire TV or Apple TV, or run a signal between a TV and monitor. The cable supports 4K and 1080p, as well as 3D content in Full HD and Deep Color. ARC support carries audio back over the HDMI connection, while HDCP support covers protected content. The 5-metre length is useful when connected equipment isn’t right beside the display; the honest trade-off is that this is a fixed-length cable, not an adjustable connection.

Why it is useful

• 4K at 60 Hz: The cable supports high-definition video up to this resolution and refresh rate. That suits a 4K display setup where you want the signal to reach the screen at 60 Hz.
• Up to 18 Gbit/s: This is the stated maximum transfer rate. It supports the cable’s high-speed video and audio signal transfer between connected HDMI devices.
• Ethernet support: The HDMI cable supports networking between devices. That’s useful in a setup where compatible connected equipment uses the HDMI Ethernet feature.
• ARC and HDCP: Audio Return Channel support carries audio back over HDMI, and HDCP support covers protected content. Both features are relevant when connecting home entertainment equipment.
• 3D and Deep Color: Alongside 4K and 1080p video, the cable supports 3D content in Full HD and Deep Color. These formats are useful to note when matching the cable to the display features you use.

Good to know

The cable is black and measures 5.5 mm in diameter, details worth considering if it will run visibly around your entertainment setup. Its listed support for 3D applies to Full HD content, so that’s the resolution to keep in mind for 3D viewing. ARC is also included among its supported HDMI features. These points add useful detail beyond the headline resolution and transfer rate when comparing cables for a particular setup.
