OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm 1:1.2 Pro / ET-M4512 Pro | Bright, focused street and travel images

For tighter street scenes and travel portraits, this lens helps you frame a person or detail without pulling the whole setting into the picture. The OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm 1:1.2 Pro is a standard prime lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras, with a 45mm focal length and autofocus. It suits photographers who want a more selective view than a wide-angle lens gives, whether they’re photographing people in a busy street or details encountered on a trip. Its f/1.2 maximum aperture gives you room to work in dimmer light and to soften the background behind your subject. The 27° angle of view keeps the framing relatively tight, so it’s less suited to cramped rooms or broad street scenes. If you value subject-led compositions and don’t mind stepping back to frame them, this lens makes a distinctive travel companion.

Specialist Note

Dim light and cluttered backgrounds can make a street portrait feel harder to control; the 45mm f/1.2 gives you a practical way to handle both. Open it to f/1.2 when you want your subject to separate clearly from the activity behind them, or to keep working as the light fades. On a Micro Four Thirds body, the framing is equivalent to 90mm, which is useful for travel portraits and picking out details from a little farther away. For a moving person, I’d start around 1/250 sec and adjust ISO as needed. The honest trade-off is that this tighter view can feel restrictive indoors, so it suits people who prefer considered framing over fitting everything in.
