OWC Gemini 16TB 7200RPM (8TB X 2) Dual Drive Thunderbolt 3 Hardware Raid Storage

OWC Gemini 16TB 7200RPM (8TB X 2) Dual Drive Thunderbolt 3 Hardware Raid Storage | Room for a growing working library

Running out of room for working files can make an otherwise tidy setup harder to manage. The OWC Gemini brings two drives together in one external storage unit, with 16TB of capacity in total. It’s aimed at photographers, video makers and other creative professionals who want a substantial desktop destination for files that need to stay close to their work. The drives are specified at 7200RPM, and the unit uses hardware RAID with Thunderbolt 3. That gives you a clearly defined combination of capacity, drive count and connection type to consider when planning your storage. It’s most useful when your priority is keeping a large body of material in one place, rather than carrying a small drive from location to location. One honest point: “hardware RAID” alone doesn’t tell you which RAID configuration is available, so don’t assume a particular balance of capacity and protection.

Choosing it for your setup

The Gemini makes most sense when a single 8TB drive would leave too little headroom, but you still want to think through the storage arrangement before committing files to it. Its two-drive design is part of the product’s identity, not just a larger capacity figure; the RAID handling is hardware-based. That may suit a desk-based workflow where a sizeable collection of image, video or project files needs a dedicated home. Consider what you want the storage to do in your day-to-day work, and how the capacity fits the size of your library. The title also names Thunderbolt 3, so that connection is an important part of the decision. Keep the choice grounded in those specifics: capacity, two drives, and hardware RAID.
