Permajet Portrait White 285 A2 25SH | Plan portrait prints in A2

Portrait prints are often kept small or viewed on a screen; this Permajet photo paper gives you an A2 format to work with when you want a larger print. It’s named Portrait White 285 A2 25SH, and its title points to portrait printing as its intended use. That makes it relevant for photographers preparing a portrait for display, a portfolio or a considered gift. The name also identifies it as white paper, though it doesn’t tell us the surface finish, so I wouldn’t choose it on the assumption that it’s glossy or matte. The 25SH marking is part of the product name. If you’re weighing up paper for a particular image, think first about how the portrait will be viewed and how much space you want it to occupy. A2 is a substantial print size, so it’s worth planning the crop before you print.

Planning an A2 portrait print

A large print gives facial expression and fine framing choices more room to read. It also makes small decisions more noticeable: check the crop, the position of the subject and the balance of empty space around them before committing to a print. Those choices depend on the photograph, not on the paper name, so there’s no single layout that will suit every portrait. A close head-and-shoulders image may call for different framing from a portrait with more of the surroundings in view.

For a straightforward workflow, prepare the image at the size you intend to print, review the composition at that scale, and make any adjustments before sending it to print. That’s especially helpful when you’re moving from a screen-sized image to a large physical print. Permajet Portrait White 285 A2 25SH is a specific paper option for that kind of portrait-printing job; the product name gives you the format and pack marking to identify it, while your image and intended presentation guide the final choice.
