Pixel Flash Bounce For Nikon SB-N5 | Soften direct flash

Without a modifier, flash can leave a direct, conspicuous look on nearby subjects. The Pixel Flash Bounce is a white bounce diffuser for the Nikon SB-N5, intended to change how that flash reaches your subject. It suits photographers who already use the SB-N5 and want a simple way to moderate direct flash for everyday indoor pictures. Think family portraits at home, or close-up pictures of small objects where a hard flash can draw attention away from detail. Used with the SB-N5, the diffuser gives you another way to shape its light without adding a separate light source to your setup. It’s a focused accessory rather than a full lighting solution: its job is to work with the named flash, not replace it. If you often use the SB-N5 nearby and want a less abrupt flash effect, this is the kind of small addition worth considering.

Specialist Note

This is a simple flash modifier, not a separate lighting setup, so its effect is naturally limited to the SB-N5 it’s made for. That focus is also the reason I’d recommend it to someone who already uses that flash and wants a straightforward way to soften direct light. The white diffuser surface helps spread the flash rather than leaving it as a bare, concentrated burst. For a portrait indoors, use the bounce to take the edge off light on a face; for a small object, it can help keep the flash from looking so stark. It’s a practical accessory for those situations, though it won’t give you the broad control of a larger lighting arrangement.
