PolarPro 135 Series - Chroma CP Filter - 82mm
PolarPro 135 Series - Chroma CP Filter - 82mm: Reduce glare and deepen colour
German Chroma glass and circular polarisation set the PolarPro 135 Series Chroma CP Filter apart: this 82mm filter reduces reflections and strengthens colour and contrast, with glass specified for resolutions up to 8K. It’s aimed at landscape and architecture photographers, as well as film photographers, who want control over reflected light without an intentional warm or cool tint. In a landscape, its polarising effect can bring more depth to a blue sky and make green foliage look more vivid. For architecture, it can reduce distracting reflections on glass and bring out the appearance of a building’s surface. The filter also cuts incoming light by 1.6 to 2.7 stops, so it adds a measure of light control alongside its effect on reflections. A fingerprint- and scratch-resistant coating and weather-resistant aluminium frame round out a filter specified for both digital and analogue photography.
On the lens
- Circular polarising action: It changes how reflected light appears, reducing glare from reflective surfaces. That can help reveal more of the colour and detail that reflections obscure.
- German Chroma glass: The glass is specified for resolutions up to 8K, a useful detail when fine image detail matters in a high-resolution file.
- Neutral colour tint: The filter doesn’t add an intentional warm or cool cast. The colour changes come from the polarising effect itself.
- Protective coating: Its surface resists fingerprints and scratches, helping keep everyday marks from getting in the way of clear images.
- Weather-resistant aluminium: The 6061 aluminium frame and filter housing are specified as weather-resistant, adding protection when shooting outdoors.
Specialist Note
The PolarPro 135 Series Chroma CP Filter is at its best when reflected glare is getting between you and the scene’s colour. For a landscape with a bright sky or leafy foreground, rotate the polarising filter while composing until the effect on the reflections and colour looks right. At a building, use the same adjustment to tone down reflections in glass and bring attention back to the surface. The 1.6 to 2.7 stops of light reduction is worth factoring into your exposure, especially as the filter’s effect also depends on the light in the scene. I’d recommend it to landscape and architecture photographers who want a single filter that combines polarisation with some light reduction.
