PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - Gold Mist - 77mm - McKinnon Series | Flexible exposure with a warm mist look

PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - Gold Mist - 77mm - McKinnon Series combines variable ND adjustment from 6 to 9 stops with a Gold Mist look. It’s made for photographers and filmmakers who want to manage incoming light while shaping the feel of an image with a single filter. The variable ND range is useful when you need to hold a chosen shutter speed or aperture as light levels change; the polarizing element adds another kind of control, while the Gold Mist designation points to a softer, warmer rendering. That combination makes it particularly suited to outdoor video and portraits in bright conditions, where exposure and atmosphere both matter. The 77mm size identifies the filter diameter, so it’s intended for a lens with a matching filter thread. Keep in mind that a 6–9 stop range is a strong reduction in light: it’s best when you specifically need that level of control, rather than as an everyday clear filter.

Specialist Note

Exposure changes are easier to manage when you can vary the ND effect across a 6–9 stop range instead of changing filters mid-shot. That’s a substantial reduction in light, so I’d look to this for bright-day video or deliberate long exposures, not routine indoor work. The VND/PL designation brings variable ND and polarizing control together, while Gold Mist gives the image a warmer, softer character. For a bright outdoor clip, set the shutter speed you want first, then adjust the filter to control exposure; for a still, use the stronger end of the range when you want a longer exposure. It’s a focused creative tool, and the 77mm size means your lens needs that filter-thread diameter.
