The Laowa Proteus 2X Anamorphic 28mm T2 lens - Blue (Meters) (LAO-28P-B-PL) is an innovative meld of anamorphic and spherical assemblies. This exquisite work of optical engineering delivers the combination of modern picture sharpness and vintage anamorphic properties, such as elliptical bokeh and unique flare traits. Both the anamorphic and spherical elements are fixed in nature; they achieve focus through a variable spherical front glass. A similar optical design has been utilized in distinguished lens lines, such as the Vantage Hawks, Cooke Anamorphic, and Atlas Orion.

With a 2X compression ratio, it yields an aspect ratio of 2.66:1 on a 4:3 sensor and 2.4:1 on a 6:5 sensor post decompression. This allows the scenic capture of an impression of 2.39:1 aspect ratio, providing an ultrawide cinematic feel in demand in the film industry. This lens maintains a constant compression ratio at all focus distances to prevent anamorphic distortion.

Remarkably, the bright T2 aperture enables filmmakers to shoot in low-light conditions. This feature also results in a shallow depth of field with a waterfall-like evolution to blurred details.
